Yesterday, Chairman Mehlman rallied grassroots Republicans in West Virginia, laying out the clear choice between today s Democrat and Republican parties. The Wheeling (WV) Intelligencer reports that Mehlman told the crowd "today's Democratic Party isn't your grandfather's Democratic Party of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the 1940s. Democrats used to tell people you have nothing to fear but fear itself, Mehlman said. Now they have nothing to offer but fear itself. " Mehlman "was the featured speaker at the Ohio County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner at Oglebay Park's Wilson Lodge. Mehlman also "declared 2004 and 2006 the Year of the Woman in West Virginia -- the Republican woman. Mehlman said this to mark last year's victories of Secretary of State Betty Ireland and U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va."
