WHITE HOUSE The White House says when the flood recedes, "It's going to be a very ugly situation" in Katrina's path of destruction. Scott McClellan says the hurricane "is a massive catastrophe" unlike any the country has experienced before.

Bush Will Attend Opening of 60th U.N. General Assembly

The White House announced September 8 that President Bush will attend the opening of the 60th U.N. General Assembly September 14. Bush also will host a private reception for world leaders on September 13, the White House said in a prepared statement.
