House Passes Key Energy ReformThe House yesterday passed the conference report for the energy bill, and the Senate is expected to take up the measure tomorrow. The measure includes provisions that will extend Daylight Savings Time, $14.5 billion in tax breaks and incentives for energy producers and alternative fuels, and an ethanol mandate. The Wall Street Journal reports that the final tally in the House was 275-156. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman "said the measure would
'reduce energy demand, increase energy supplies and update our aging energy infrastructure.'" USA Today report that "architects of the bill said it represents a
triumph of bipartisanship in a Congress that has struggled for four years to overcome regional and partisan differences on energy."
